Monty Northern, Research Associate

Monty is currently a Research Associate working for Granovsky Associates, Inc. based in Bryan, TX.  A Texas Native, he has lived in the Bryan/College Station area since 1994.
 
He has worked for the past 5 ½ years for Granovsky Associates, Inc., which provides research, training and services for clients related to urban and industrial entomology.  He has conducted urban pest research, focusing on:  ants, cockroaches, flies, stored product pests and termites.  Since starting his research career, he has evaluated many pest management technologies and has generated over 30 specialize research reports.  He oversees the consulting firms scheduling, communications, and community involvement aspects on a daily basis.
 
Monty has attended number training sessions provided by the National Pest Management Association and the Entomological Society of America.  He has also received training accreditation for GLP (Good Laboratory Practices) from the Syngenta Corporation. 
 
Monty has assisted with developing and implementing course training material utilized by classes at Texas A&M University.  ENTO 435-“Problem Solving in Entomology” and ENTO 431-“The Science of Forensic Entomology” are two of the course that he and Dr. Granovsky assist with the instruction each spring semester.  The upcoming 2010 semester will be the sixth year in which they have participated with the instruction and course material.
 
Monty worked at Office Depot as Assistant Store Manager prior to working for Granovsky Associates.  He worked there for seven years while completing his Bachelor’s degree.  He managed the operational aspects of a retail store that generated $9 million in sales annually and represented Office Depot on numerous occasions as a employee recruiter at the Mays School of Business Career Fair held each semester at Texas A&M University.
 
Monty completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics and Entomology from Texas A&M University in 2004.  He has been a member of the Entomological Society of America for the past 5 ½ years and is a Certified Applicator registered with the State of Texas.
